An affluent suburb in Westchester County, Harrison is located 22 miles northeast of Manhattan. Harrison has the unusual status of a town-village since a referendum in 1975. The boundaries of Harrison are shaped like a figure-eight. The southern portion of the figure-eight is referred to as downtown Harrison, divided into four areas: The Brentwood, Sunnyridge, Sterling Ridge/The Trails, and Southern Downtown. The northern portion of the town consists of Purchase and “West Harrison,” a neighborhood south and further west of Purchase. A landlocked community, Harrison is surrounded by Mamaroneck, White Plains, Rye, Scarsdale and North Castle. Harrison is also home to Westchester County Airport and the “Platinum Mile,” featuring the headquarters of major multinational corporations such as Morgan Stanley, MasterCard, PepsiCo and Pernod Ricard.

Commuting - Harrison to NYC

Harrison is located 22 miles from New York City. The mean commute time to travel to work from the town is about 30 minutes. By car, it takes about 45 minutes depending on the route, traffic conditions and destination within Manhattan.   

Harrison also offers its own Metro North train station. The train departs every 30 minutes from Harrison station to Grand Central terminal. The travel time is approximately 50 minutes.

Many commuters also drive down the Hutchinson River Parkway to the Cross Westchester Expressway, where they can easily enter highways leading south into the east and west sides of Manhattan. Harrison also provides convenient access to Interstates 287 and 84.


 

Shopping & Groceries

The closest shopping mall to Harrison is Rye Ridge Shopping Center, located less than a 15 minute drive from the town, which offers several major retail stores and restaurants. Harrison is also close to The Westchester, a major shopping mall in White Plains.

If you need to go grocery shopping, supermarket chains Trader Joe’s in Larchmont (approximately 4 miles away) and Stop & Shop in White Plains (about 6 miles away) have locations near Harrison. In the near future, Wegmans also plans to open a location off of Corporate Park Drive. Smaller more local supermarkets in Harrison include Acorn Farms Farmers’ Market, DeCiccio & Sons, The Harrison Market and Asian market Oishinbo.  Roosters Market, located in White Plains, and Harvest Market in Mamaroneck are other alternative nearby options.
